I recently made the biggest placement of my career – a $1.175mn Job Offer with a Hedge Fund in New York.

The role was a leadership position at the intersection of Trading and AI – although the individual came from a heavy technical background.

Here I break down the full process including:

  • Initial contact, how I found/located the individual, the exact search threads, my messaging and how we communicated

  • Interview Process; how many interviews, what did they focus on, questions asked and what the interviewers were looking to see

  • Interview Strategy: What we worked on to highlight strengths and mitigate perceived weaknesses

  • Compensation Negotiation – How we negotiated and leveraged the offer

  • Offer and Resignation - how to resign, avoid guilt and avoid the counteroffer purgatory

  • Lessons for Candidates

What lessons can you learn across engaging with Recruiters, approaching Interview Processes and Negotiating Offers to secure positions like this?
